Rural areas are still lagging behind in various sectors, so we have made it our mission to work for the wellness of the poor by carrying out activities in different fields with one vision - making each life a worthy, free from vices and a productive soul of the society. The various activities we currently undertaking are:
Projects started in Financial Year 2009-10
Women Education programe:
 Help Social Organisation, with the support of the government, is running an educational programme for women in rural areas. Under the two-year program girls and women, who could not complete their basic education (matriculation) due to various reasons, have been enrolled.
One of the main features of the programme is that the Organisation has selected only women teachers to impart education to girls and women. These women are well educated but unemployed. Thus through one initiative, the Organisation is serving two purposes – spreading education and providing employment to women. Moreover, the Organisation is paying more than what has been allotted the government for teachers from own resources and expanding the horizon of the project to school drop out girls also.
A major breakthrough in our women welfare initiatives
HSO in 2009-10 year started a special programme ‘Let’s Respect Women’ for women empowerment. Under this programme women in age group 9-45 year are being taught self defence techniques of martial arts (wherein physical self defence techniques are clubbed with mental alertness and agility.
The Objectives of the programme are:
1. Impart self defence techniques to girls so that they can defend themselves
2. Impart training to deal with such kind of situations through simulation
3. To make girls sensitive for raising an alarm and speak up against the oppression
Skill Development centres for children belonging to BPL, IRDP families
To give a strong platform for underprivileged children to step into the competitive world, Help Social Organisation has started skill development centres at Ghanahatti in Shimla where free education and extracurricular activities like yoga, martial arts and painting are being taught.
Apart from extracurricular activities like yoga, martial arts, painting, singing and moral guidance, awareness on health, sanitation and cleanliness is also given to such children.
Our objective is providing support to poor children in their education and other activities necessary for all round development. Children need assistance in their studies apart from school. But many a child does not get this support from his parents and guardian due to poverty and lack of education. We are helping such children to realise their full potential through a number of activities.
There is a lot of talent hidden in children in rural areas also. But sometimes this natural gift is left unexplored due to scarcity of resources and awareness. We want to bring forth such talent and help child excel in future.
HSO has appointed trained teachers and coaches in these centres.
We will open such centres in other backward areas also. We want to include other activities like free computer education also.
The organisation is funding the programme from its own resources. But to expand the horizon of activities, we need active support from society. We are welcoming donations and private participation for helping these children for a bright future of nation.
Say NO to Tobacco:
Help Social Organization has started a campaign to sensitize society, especially the lower income group, about ill-effects of tobacco consumption and help them free from the clutches of this addiction.
While the world over governments increased restrictions on promotion and consumption of tobacco and its products, HSO made a commitment to those persons who are suffering from addiction to help them get rid of this evil which is slowly destroying their lives. This part of our initiative is for embellishing the present.
For a healthy and tobacco-free tomorrow, the Organization started efforts for strengthening the pillars which will shape the tomorrow of our society i.e. the teacher. As per a famous saying if you want to build your tomorrow, make good teachers today. When the ideal, the teacher, would be of strong character, the tomorrow of any nation would be the same. So, HSO picked the task to sensitize teachers about the evil and more than that, the radical change they can bring in our society.
HSO has chosen 65 trainee teachers, who are getting prepared to shoulder the responsibility of building the nation, to start our initiative. The trainee teachers of near by Kandaghat Training Institute in Shimla were counseled about tobacco related ill effects and the contribution they can make in saving people from falling into trap of this evil.
Thus, the HSO is working on both fronts – creating awareness about the ill-effects of tobacco and its products, and helping people get rid of this evil – which the organization believes is the perfect strategy to see our society tobacco free.

We are running various programmes for social upliftment of rural people touching various aspects of their lives like health, education, income generation, environment awareness. We are working for improving the health of rural people, making them aware about sanitation, spreading awareness about deadly disease like AIDS and for the welfare of women and children. |

We are working for promoting blood donation, especially spot blood donation. Our members are always ready for donating blood to patients while motivating other people to do the noble cause so that precious lives can be saved. |

We are helping youth from overcoming addiction through complete rehabilitation programme, including counseling and medication, to bring them back in to a healthy life and make them a helping hand for the improvement of society. Besides, we are regularly organizing awareness campaigns about ill effects of drug addiction. |

We are running programmes to make rural people sensitive to environment and developing, conserving, fostering ecological system by disseminating information about sustainable ecological development. We regularly hold campaigns for the promotion of conservation of animals and nature to maintain the natural balances of ecosystems disrupted by recent human activity |

We are promoting programmes for income generation through activities other than agriculture so that rural poor can increase their income level and they don't have to leave their place for earning. |

Our Upcoming projects :
To open an Old Age Home for the Senior Citizens - We are setting up an old age home for senior citizens to provide them a healthy environment to involve them in social interaction, secure living to pursue their interests while being free from social pressures. A well furnished accommodation would be provided to each elderly people who are helpless, alone, facing neglect of their near and dear ones. The land for the project has been identified and it is expected to come up as soon as regulatory and other formalities are completed.
To open a school for physically challenged- Many researches have highlighted that physically challenged children do not in general perform well in ordinary schools. Some of the problems that come in the way of their education are: specific learning difficulties, emotional problems, poor school attendance, large classes, limitations in ordinary teacher training and lack of remedial teachers and other staff. Keeping in mind the all round development of these children, our organization is committed to provide a healthy congenial environment to physically challenged children, where they can grow and learn.
To open a Cow Shelter:-- The cow, a symbol of unselfish giving according to the Hindu philosophy and a source of protein-rich milk and dairy products, is now a days living on the mercy of people and subsisting on their 'waste'. To save this useful animal from the wrath of the urbanization and restore its sacredness, the organization plans to build a gosadan (cow shelter).
Health Surveys:-- The organization wants to bring out a clear picture of health standards in rural areas. In spite increased efforts of the administration, there are still many areas untouched. These areas are not highlighted due limited scope of other surveys. The organization continuously working for underscoring health various areas and provide a true insight to the present situation of rural health.
