Awareness camp on World Tobacco Day
Shimla, June 01, 2010: On the World Tobacco Day, May 31, the Help Social Organisation organised awareness camp at the Ghannahatti government school near here. Around 100 children took part in the camp, which was organised to aware school children about ill effects of tobacco use and smoking. After the camp, many school children appreciated our effort and requested us to hold such camps again. The founder of the NGO, Hemender Salariya, advised children how to stay away from tobacco use and smoking and how to get rid of it if somebody is addicted to that. He also emphasised strict discipline in life and strong will power to
The NGO has stepped up campaign against drug dependence and is organising awareness and counselling camps, especially at schools. As people fall prey to this evil at young age, a proper guidance at such age can save their lives. Even a report released by WHO and the Indian government has revealed that nearly 10 per cent of students in schools are smoking and using tobacco. So the young members of society need care and counseling to help them lead a healthy life and our NGO is working towards that end.
HSO donates water purifier to old age home
Shimla, May 27, 2010:  With the support of our kind donators, Help Social Organisation has been able to extend a helping hand to senior citizens living in old age home at Tattapani near Shimla. HSO has donated a water purifier to the old age home to provide safe drinking water to the habitants.
It would be worthwhile to recall that few days earlier HSO has organized a free medical camp at the old age home in which medical experts from IGMC Shimla conducted the health check up of all elderly people. At that time it was felt that there was an urgent need to provide safe drinking water to elderly people and NGO had promised to those people that we will provide the facility. And we fulfilled our promise.
Moreover, it was heartening to hear the outcome of our medical camp organised at the old age home. Elderly people told us that they had been benefitted immensely from the medical advice and medicines distributed by us. They told us that earlier they were provided with medical facilities but results were poor. The NGO had distributed medicines for free which were sourced from the boxes the NGO has fixed in hospitals. In these boxes, patients drop their unused medicines and we distribute these medicines to poor people and during health camps.
In other words, NGO is collecting medicines from people and distributing them to people, thus building a complete chain.
HSO inspires youth to take responsibility of elders
Shimla, April 26, 2010: Around 15 young volunteers vowed to take care of elderly people in Ghanahatti near Shimla after the Elder Day celebration organized by Help Social Organisation here on Sunday. After an interaction of young individuals and elderly people organized by HSO on the occasion, these young said they will help elders in activities like payment of bills, telephone electricity etc, medical check ups among others.  HSO has also decided open a laughter club, especially for elders, in Ghanahatti. The NGO has also decided to provide a vehicle to elders which would provide free service in case of medical emergency or health check up. NGO has hired a vehicle for the same.  Moreover, our NGO would organize a free weekly exercise camp where specific physiotherpic exercises would be taught to elders.
HSO organizes group counseling against drug dependence
Shimla, April 9, 2010:  As part of our fight against the drug dependence menace, Help Social Organization organized a group counseling session at Ghanahatti near Shimla. Around 250 people, including school children and community members, took part in the session.
The participants were made aware about the ill effects of drug dependence and asked them to spurn drugs and adopt healthy life.
Drug dependence has gripped people of all age groups and now is threatening our kids also, as exposure to mass media such as TV and Internet at early stage.
